Maintaining Your Miniature Golf Course

When building a mini golf course or considering adding a mini golf course onto an existing business, it’s important to remember that there will always be a certain level of maintenance required to keep operations up and running. How much time and effort this will require depends on the size and scale of your course, as well as the features you incorporate. In this article, we give you an overview of how to maintain your miniature golf course.

Carpeting

Regardless of how big or small your miniature golf course is, all mini golf courses have a carpeted playing surface that need to be maintained. On a day-to-day basis, all you need to do to maintain carpeting is remove any litter around the course. It is always useful to inspect it from time to time to check for tears or damages, as these are indicators that it is time for a replacement. Waiting too long to replace the carpeting on your mini golf course could cause unnecessary accidents and lead customer to lose confidence in your establishment. What’s more, unkempt premises could also cost your business in terms of liability and customer retention.

Lighting and Sound

Whether your course is located indoors or outdoors, ensuring that you have the appropriate lighting is everything, especially if controlled lighting and effects play a major role in the overall experience. For outdoor courses, the only way to keep your customers playing when the sun goes down is with a reliable lighting system. It is therefore crucial that you regularly check and maintain all lighting fixtures.

Although the sound may not be as crucial to your course as lighting, it can nevertheless play an important part in creating a fun experience. Customers may be able to continue playing without sound effects but having music and a reliable sound system can make mini golf a truly memorable experience.

Equipment

All mini golf courses need putters, balls, and scorecards. Single-use variety scorecards are low-maintenance since all you need to do is replace them once they have been used. This is more of an ongoing cost as opposed to a maintenance cost related to upkeep. Putters and balls, however, will need to undergo periodic quality checks to ensure they are in good condition. Damaged balls or putters can affect the quality of the game and diminish customer experience.
